The website of the Business Academy is intended to give
Parents, Staff, Students and Visitors an insight into how the Academy
works, it's history and it's philosophy. It is not intended to give detailed
analysis of lesson planning, or detailed anaysis of management planning.
If parents, staff or students wish to obtain more detailed information
they will be able to log onto the Learning Gateway using passwords obtained
from the webmaster.
This will alllow you to access homeworks, teaching plans,
and further resources for students to use.

Does the Academy follow the National Curriculum?
Yes it does, in year 7 to 11 in addition to the National
Curriculum students also have the opportunity to experience a wide range of subjects
on a Friday during the Business Day. The sixth form offers the International
Baccalaureate and other vocational subjects.
Who can apply
to come into the Academy?
As long as parents follow the established guidelines for entry into
the Academy as set out on the website, applications are invited from
eligible students whatever their ability. It is not a selective process
and free education is provided for all.
Do students
have to wear an Academy uniform?
All students in years 7 to 11 are expected to wear a uniform available
from the Academy office. Sixth form students are expected to dress
as if they were going to work in an office environment.
What exactly is
a City Academy?
A City Academy is a secondary school for students aged 11 to 18,
which is funded directly from Government. The Business Academy Bexley
is
the only Academy that has a primary school (The Business Academy
Bexley, Primary) based on the same site. This allows us to offer
an education
from 4 to 19 years of age catering for students of all abilities
ranging from the most able to those with special educational needs. What is the length of the Academy day and what are the
term dates?
The Academy day begins at 8.20am and finishes at 3.30pm, Monday to Thursday,
Friday starts at 8.20am and finishes at 2.00pm. The term dates can be

Are parents involved in the Academy?
A parents council has been established and elections are held during
the year. This allows parents to have a say within the Academy and
meetings are held once a term. Parents are encouraged to participate
in all aspects of Academy life and work with staff to have a positive
effect on their childs education, the first point of contact will be
the students tutor.
How big are the teaching groups?
There will be a maximum of 27 students in years 7 to 11 and no more than
15 in the sixth form.
What other extra curriculum opportunities do
you offer?
In addition to sporting fixtures, the Academy offers Drama productions,
after Academy clubs and extra homework sessions. The Business day offers
students the chance to take part in activities at the weekend.There are
also a range of Academy trips offered during the year.
Do students take an active part in sporting activities?
We would expect all students to take part in PE lessons as this helps
all aspects of a students intellectual development. There are a range
of sporting fixtures offered during the year. Are students offered additional music lessons?
We offer all students extra lessons if they express an interest.
What food does the Academy offer students?
We offer staff and students a wide range of foods from breakfast early
in the morning to after school snacks click here to take you to the

Are students expected to complete homework?
Homework is set on a regular basis and all students are expected to complete
all homework set.
